It’s okay to be unhappy

Sometimes, we are unhappy about being unhappy.

Some of us might be thinking: “Everybody else looks so cheerful — why do I go through these ups and downs? How can I always be smiling, self-assured, and fully in control?”

You can’t. Nobody can. The ‘always unflappable guy’ you envy has only learned to not display his anxieties or worries. He has the same life as you do.

We don’t have to smile all the time. It is ok to be upset. It is fine to not feel in control.

Obviously, it is not an excuse to stop addressing them, but sadness, unhappiness, and dejection are all valid emotions. All you have to do is mindfully observe, accept, and give it time.

Then, when you feel like it, smile.
