Why Self-Leadership Matters More Than Ever

When we were kids, our parents told us what to do. But once you are in a job, there are no ‘parents’ there — you have to parent yourself.

Imagine that in your current job, there is nobody to tell you which project to work on, what to learn, or which client to reach out to… You are on your own.

What kind of things would you do? And why not do at least some of them even now?

I am not preaching here. In my past life, even I have sometimes waited to be told what to do. And on many other occasions, I have grabbed the initiative. 100 out of 100 times, the only good outcomes have come from the latter.

I am sharing this because I wish someone had told me this in my college days.

Don’t wait for permission. Don’t wait for instructions. Don’t wait for divine guidance. Finding opportunities is your job — be it work projects, learning resources, or even personal growth.

Nobody out there is worrying about how to build your life. Nobody else is in charge. Which means, you are in charge.

So take control and get moving.
