When I was in the police force, the best leaders I worked with had one common quality – they were not bossy at all.
Usually, when we think of ‘good leaders’, we imagine charismatic people with magnetic personalities. But the leaders I cherish were the ones who were polite, thoughtful, and caring.
To be a good leader, you don’t need any particular kind of look or style. Nor do you have to dominate others.
A leader is someone whom people want to follow. And a good leader is someone whom people will follow even when doing so is hard.
That kind of leadership can only come from caring about others a bit more than you care about yourself.
