My friend Vinod Thomas once told me a story of three bullets.
When he was going through Indian Police Service training, his class was exposed to a lot of firearms training but many were still mediocre shooters.
Then they were sent to Punjab Police Academy in Phillaur for a few days. There, a marksman gave them a nuanced understanding of the basics of shooting, after which, each trainee was given three bullet for firing practice. Just three!
And after firing those three bullets, each officer trainee had become a much better shooter than they had become after firing hundreds of rounds earlier.
The weapons were the same, and the bullets were the same — just the basics were clarified.
And the reason I remembered this story is that today, whether we want to become a better investor, a better runner, or a better marketer, everything is made so complicated. It only benefits the person selling you that complexity.
You don’t need complexity — you just need to get the basics right. Once you do that, even three bullets will be enough.
