Make New Mistakes, Not Old Ones

In my previous job, a team member was making an investment proposal that my boss thought was quite disastrous.

So my boss said, “Why do you want to make the same mistake we made last time? There are so many mistakes one can make — why don’t you try something new?”

While he was being a bit sarcastic, what he said was not without merit.

In a decade of being an entrepreneur, I have made so many mistakes that I can write a book on them — and I probably will. But today, I am a (slightly) better entrepreneur only because I try to avoid past mistakes.

I am not glorifying mistakes but they are inevitable. The only way to avoid them is to sit tight and do nothing. But doesn’t that defeat the purpose of living?

So if you err, forgive yourself, resolve not to repeat it, and move on. And take one more shot at life.
