If you feel you don’t have enough time, ask yourself: If your day had four extra hours, would it be enough? Be honest.
I think the answer is pretty obvious.
If 24 hours feel insufficient, 28 hours will feel no better. It is not the number of hours that matter — it is what we fill those hours with.
We all have enough useless things in our life to fill even a 48 hour day. The key is to cut out the junk. By the way, I am NOT saying stop Netflix — entertainment can also be meaningful (within reasonable limits 😊).
My solution to “there isn’t enough time” syndrome is straightforward:
1. Be ruthless in saying ‘no’ and commit your time very cautiously. If that makes you annoying, please be annoying.
2. Be clear about your priorities. Not all tasks need to be done. And certainly, they all don’t need to be done today.
3. Avoid toxic time sinks (Hint: All online platforms owned by M Zuckerberg).
4. Do deep work daily. A few times a day, pick a task, set the timer for 25-50 minutes, and work with full focus.
Either there is already enough time, or there will never be.
It is up to us.
